Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel an engagement any time before substantive work begins, meaning before return preparation starts or before an advisory report is drafted. If you’ve prepaid for something you no longer need and we haven’t started work, you get your money back.
Reaching us
We aim to be the most reachable tax practitioners on Earth. Clients can contact us by text, call, email, fax, DM, and carrier pigeon. We answer outside business hours, coordinate meetings across time zones, and respond quickly even during filing season.
Payment
Most engagements are quoted at a fixed price. If the scope can’t be pinned down in advance, usually for project and advisory work, we bill hourly at standard rates quoted to you up front, and we tell you where the total stands as we go rather than saving it for the invoice.
Project engagements take a deposit up front with the balance due at completion. Invoices are payable on presentation, and unpaid balances accrue interest at 5% annually.
Extensions
We don’t file one unless you ask. We won’t extend a return on our own initiative to buy ourselves time.
As a reminder, an extension only moves the filing deadline, not the payment deadline. If you expect to owe tax when you file, that money is still due in April. Where we have enough information to estimate, we’ll tell you what to pay alongside the extension.
Your documents
Everything moves through the client portal. We don’t accept tax documents or anything carrying personal identifying information by email, and we’ll send you a secure link instead of asking you to attach something.
Originals are yours. On the rare occasion we hold a paper document, it comes back to you as soon as the work is done. We don’t keep physical copies.
Where does your data go?
Only to necessary third-party service providers: TaxDome, our client portal, and Drake Software, our return filing software. Fax transmissions to the IRS go through HumbleFax. We don’t sell, share, or otherwise disclose client information, and that remains true after you stop being a client.
