Proactive.
The most common thing we hear on an intake call is some version of my last preparer wasn’t proactive.
Usually, that means nobody bothered to check in outside of “tax season.” A return prepared in March can only report what already happened. How the entity was structured, when income landed, what was purchased, sold, and when. The decisions had already been made. At Wyntax, “tax season” is all year long, and we stand by you as a decision-making partner.
Extensions work the same way. There are good reasons to request more time to file your tax return, like a K-1 that hasn’t arrived, foreign statements on a different fiscal calendar, or an unresolved question. There is also a common reason that doesn’t appear on that list, which is a tax preparer falling behind schedule.
We won’t extend your return unless you ask us to. It’s your call, with our counsel to ensure you’re not inviting delay or penalty without a good reason.
Particular.
If you hand us a number that doesn’t look right, we’ll ask you about it. Plenty of preparers won’t, because the liability is ultimately on the client and it’s easier not to question the figures. That’s not a favor to you as the client.
The return carries your signature and its accuracy is your responsibility, so a questionable position that you never fully understood can become a problem three years down the line.
Where the law is genuinely unsettled, we’ll say so and lay out the positions available to you. Where a position can’t be supported at all, we reserve the right to stop work rather than sign off on it. That clause is in our engagement letter on purpose, because we value compliance above all else.
Practiced.
Most of what we see, we have seen before. This experience helps us cut through the noise and focus on the signal: what suits your situation and why.
Multi-state returns, entity classification, rental property sales, equity compensation, preparing for retirement, notices and letters, including for returns prepared somewhere else.
Even when the waters get murky, chances are we’ve already plumbed the depths. Cross-border returns fail quietly. Sometimes an individual doesn’t realize the cross-border rules apply to their situation. Avoiding double taxation and ensuring FATCA compliance is our bread and butter.
Across all of it, the difference between a preparer who has seen your situation before and one who hasn’t is measured in real money.
Protective.
Every return we prepare comes with a Protection Plus plan included. This arrangement ensures you can opt into third-party coverage at no additional cost in the event an IRS letter or notice arrives. Your information isn’t shared unless and until you opt in, but the safety net is there.
If a notice or an audit arrives, Protection Plus assigns credentialed specialists to work the matter, with up to $1,000,000 in services available. The membership also carries identity theft restoration and a $2,500 tax preparation guarantee.
If you’d rather keep working with Wyntax, rest assured that an Enrolled Agent holds unlimited practice rights before the IRS and can represent you in any matter the agency handles: audits, collections, appeals. That’s separate work under its own agreement, quoted before it starts. Some clients want the cost-covered team, others prefer the advisor who prepared the return. Wyntax leaves the choice to you.
Personal.
Go for it: text, call or email on nights, weekends and holidays. Wyntax runs on your schedule, wherever either of us is in the world. Time zone differences aren’t your problem to solve, and short of the occasional hour at the gym, you can reach your advisor anytime, anywhere.
